. The Company

VEM - Veicoli Eco Metropolitani- was born in 1995 as commercial company and in 2000 it becomes manufacturer alternate propulsion vehicles, acquiring a branch of Torpedo, first Italian enterprise devoted in transforming thermic into electric vehicles. In the same period begins the relationship of technical and trade advisory with Citroën Italia regarding the electric vehicles of its products range (Berlingo, Enterprise electrique and Saxo SX 3P Electrique).

Foto Azienda 3In a later time VEM modifies its company mission including also the design, manufacture and transformation of conventional vehicles in the fields of mixed transport of persons and goods. The activity of research and development starts studying the transformation from thermic into electric of Volkswagen Transporter in its several versions (chassis, persons transport, goods transport), obtaining from the German house the authorization to transform.

VEM has been certified by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports as serial manufacturer of electric vehicles.

In the course of the years the Company has got an ever more specific experience in the production of electric vehicles and crafts floating with low environmental impact (hybrid motorization) even in the sector of

design and preparation of special vehicles for security and emergency for public administrations. As a matter of facts it becomes more and more pressing the necessity to pull down emissions from combustion residual and noise, in particular in city centers, historical-artistic areas, in tourist centers, inside natural parks or protect areas. Foto Azienda 3These are the fields where the electric and hybrid vehicles offer the best solutions owing to their characteristics.

The Company VEM has been for a long time engaged in preparing mobility plans specific for various environments and optimized to the territory, through preliminary and executive studies:

vehicles and necessary infrastructures finalized to the territory;
organization and management of moving persons and goods;
services of public utility;
systems of exchange parking and rent a car;
energetic and economic surveys;
programs of supplies, ordinary and full-service maintenances.


Currently VEM participates to the EU Project Hychain inside the VI Frame Programme regarding the design and integration of vehicles fitted with Fuel Cell supplied by hydrogen and the distribution of hydrogen itself.
