HYCHAIN PROJECT

The HYCHAIN MINI-TRANS project is an Integrated Project funded through the 6th Framework Program of the European Union. It is one of the leading projects of the European Commission’s Transportation and Energy Division and is the first demonstration project of this size to be implemented. The project is lasting 5 years and Air Liquide is charged with coordinating a network of 24 European partners.

The scope of the HYCHAIN MINI-TRANS Project is to allow citizens from four European Community regions to test a group of 150 small urban vehicles including small utility cars and minibuses, wheelchairs, scooters and cargo-bikes, all powered by hydrogen fuel cells, and to demonstrate the use of innovative logistics for hydrogen distribution. More than 2,000 reusable pressurized hydrogen cylinders, varying in size from 2 to 20 litres, will be made available. The end users will exchange empty cylinders for full ones at designated distribution sites.

The four partner regions are:
Rhône-Alpes in France (Grenoble Alpes Métropole Agglomeration Community),
Castilla y León in Spain (cities of Soria and León),
North Rhine Westphalia in Germany (region of Emscher-Lippe Agglomeration Community)
City of Modena in Italy.

The aim of this proposal is to present the Hychain offer for a hydrogen utility vehicle for 3 years in the frame of this European project.
This project permits the customer to participate in this unique initiative with an international impact in terms of visibility and the environment.

HYCHAIN Minitrans is one of the Projects belonging to the a plan of the Sixth Program Picture of the European Union. The plan, than hard five years (2006-2011), is one of the first demonstrative plans of these dimensions realized to the world.
